James Grant is a veteran publicist with an established track record of strategizing and implementing successful media campaigns for global companies, corporate brands, non-profit organizations, personalities, films, books, and documentaries. With a background that ranges from West Coast Bureau Chief of Life Magazine to West Coast Publicity Director of Orion Pictures, he has worked successfully in public relations, marketing, journalism, and television, building and maintaining relationships on both sides of the media and public relations worlds for over twenty years.

Prior to founding JGPR, Grant worked as Vice President of MRG overseeing media campaigns for films, documentaries, the Golden Globes, and Variety’s first Power of Women awards.

At Orion Pictures he worked on films with Brad Pitt, Kiefer Sutherland, Madonna, Michelle Pfeiffer, Keanu Reeves, and Jodie Foster. He also worked on the Oscar® campaign for The Silence of the Lambs, and the Best Actress Oscar® campaign for Jessica Lange in Blue Sky.

He also worked on publicity for Miramax’s A Rage in Harlem starring Robin Givens, Forest Whitaker, Danny Glover, and Gregory Hines; and with Aileen Getty to help bring awareness to women living with HIV.

During a career in journalism, Grant worked for four Time/Warner publications - Life Magazine, People, In Style, and Entertainment Weekly. In between People and Life he worked as a segment producer for Fox Television’s The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers, and was subsequently promoted to co-producer.

Grant began his career at Davidson & Choy publicizing Dreamgirls, Little Shop of Horrors, Extremities, and Private Lives with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. He also worked as Marketing Manager for the Ambassador International Cultural Foundation.

Grant has been interviewed about public relations, branding, and business for Forbes, The New York Times, USA Today, Entertainment Tonight, CNN, and other worldwide media.
